Bed bug treatment blog

Short, practical articles that answer one question at a time. Each one links back to the method guides, since you may want to check the detail before you act.

What this blog covers

Our method comparison sets out the big picture. This blog takes one narrow question at a time instead, because a single clear answer is easier to act on. For example, how long does a heat treatment take, or will a shop spray reach the bugs that matter?

We write each post for people who live with the problem, not for the trade. As a result, we use plain words, short steps and real limits. When a method has a weak spot, we say so first rather than hide it.

The posts sit in four groups. Method posts look at heat, steam, sprays, dusts and cold, while preparation posts help you get a room ready. Aftercare posts explain what to expect once the work is done. Prevention posts cover travel, laundry and monitors.

How we check what we write

Every fact in a post comes from a source you can open yourself. In particular, we use the NHS, the Health and Safety Executive, GOV.UK and published research. If we cannot find a good source for a claim, we leave the claim out.

We also avoid brand names. However, we do explain what to look for on a product label, since the label is the legal guide to safe use. Our editorial standard sets out how we pick sources and when we update a page.

Each post shows the date we published it and the date it last changed. Each one also ends with a list of sources. Advice can still change after we write, so check the source before you act, because the source wins over our summary.
