Privacy and cookies

This notice explains what happens to the details you send us and which cookies the site uses. In short, we pass your enquiry to one local professional and set analytics cookies only if you agree.

Who is responsible for your data

The operator of BedbugKillers.co.uk is the controller of the personal data described here. As a result, we decide why and how your details are used. You can reach us about anything on this page at leads@bedbugkillers.co.uk.

This notice covers the enquiry form, the records we keep and the analytics cookies on this site. It is written under UK data protection law, in particular the UK GDPR. We will update the date at the top of the page when the notice changes.

What the enquiry form collects

When you send an enquiry, we collect the details you type into the form. We also record the page you sent it from, and the time. In addition, we log your IP address and browser type, because this helps us stop abuse of the form.

Please keep health details out of the notes box, since the professional does not need them to plan a visit. If you leave the email box blank, that is fine, because the form works without it.

  • Your name and phone number
  • Your postcode and, where you give it, the property address
  • Your email address, if you choose to add one
  • The type of help you need and any notes you add
  • The page you sent the form from, your IP address and your browser type

Why we use it and our lawful basis

We use your details for one purpose: to pass your enquiry to a pest control professional who covers your area, so they can contact you. We also keep a record of each enquiry, so we can answer questions about it and spot misuse of the form. We do not sell your details, and we do not use them for marketing.

Our lawful basis is your request and your consent. You ask us to act when you send the form, and you agree that we pass your details on. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us, although this does not undo anything we have already passed on.

Who receives your details

The main recipient is the pest control professional who covers your area. They will use your details to contact you about your enquiry. Once they have them, they are responsible for how they use them. For that reason, ask them for their own privacy notice.

We also use service providers to run the site. For example, Cloudflare hosts the pages and stores enquiry records, and an email service sends us a notice of each new enquiry. Some providers may handle data outside the UK, and where they do, UK law requires suitable safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep an enquiry record only for as long as we need it to pass the enquiry on and deal with any questions about it. After that, we delete it, since we have no other use for it. If you would like your record deleted sooner, email us and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides help people. Its cookies, named _ga and a related _ga_ cookie, are set only if you choose Accept in the cookie banner. However, if you decline or ignore the banner, analytics storage stays switched off.

We set Google Analytics to hide part of your IP address and to turn off Google signals and ad personalisation. Your cookie choice itself is saved in your browser's local storage, so the banner does not ask again on every page. You can change your choice at any time with the cookie settings button below or in the footer.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your data and to have it corrected. You can also ask us to delete it, limit how we use it or object to its use. To use any of these rights, email leads@bedbugkillers.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us first, so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. You can make a complaint to the ICO online.
